GENERATORS
ITG
bi-fuel provides additional savings when diesel standby generators
are used for load management peak shaving during heavy eclectic
demand periods. Many electric utility companies will pay thousands
of dollars to have generators on line during peak periods. Some
customers have gone beyond peak shaving to run their generators
full time as prime power. Prime power economics work where electric
is expensive and/or unreliable and natural gas is low priced.
DIRECT
DRIVE COMPRESSORS OR PUMPS
As
with peak shaving, if electric rates are high, using engines instead
of large electric motors can provide significant savings.
Large
refrigeration systems for air conditioning, cold storage warehouses,
water and sewer pumps or other energy needs can utilize bi-fueled
engines.
MOBILE
Diesel
trucks, busses, vans, locomotives and industrial equipment benefit
from bi-fuel by meeting lower exhaust emissions requirements, lower
fuel costs, reduced maintenance expenses and extended engine life.
City garbage trucks have been especially successful for ITG and
represent a severe test for the bi-fuel process. Each mobile application
carries their own natural gas fuel supply in safe, high-pressure
tanks of compressed or liquid natural gas.
